The Kelvin forms a wide loop as it passes through the campus grounds of the Vet School - there is a drivewayfrom Maryhill Road that passes in front of Wolfson Hall and runs diagonally across campus to a bridge over the river. You will see round concrete plinths around a metre high next to the river. They were to be used to block the bridge if the Germans invaded.

Towards Dawsholm Park (formed in the 1920s from 72 acres aquired by Corporation of the City of Glasgow) there are footpaths along both banks of the river - those on the west bank being very much higher than the east bank. Both banks are heavilly wooded.
